Manor Farm Solar - an opportunity to view our proposals.
A solar farm is being proposed for a site south east of Escrick near Skipwith Road.
You can view the proposals and speak to the project team at the Escrick and Deighton Club on Thursday,
March 10th from noon until 8pm.

Escrick Neighbourhood Development Plan - Submission Consultation

Escrick Parish Council has formally submitted the draft Escrick Neighbourhood Development Plan for independent examination.
Prior to the independent examination, Selby District Council as the Local Planning Authority is inviting comments on the submission draft Escrick Neighbourhood Development Plan.
The Escrick Neighbourhood Development Plan is available to view on Selby District Council’s webpage: https://www.selby.gov.uk/escrick-neighbourhood-development-plan
To make representation on the submission draft Escrick Neighbourhood Development Plan, please submit your comments to Selby District Council no later than 5pm on 4 April 2022 by completing the on-line comment form at: https://www.selby.gov.uk/escrick-neighbourhood-development-plan

NOTICE OF VACANCY IN OFFICE OF COUNCILLOR PARISH OF ESCRICK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN
that pursuant to section 87(2) of the Local Government Act 1972 a casual vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the said Parish.
If by 16 February, 2022 (14 days excluding Dies Non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill the vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby YO8 9FT by TEN electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.
If an election is called, it will take place not later than 22 April, 2022.

Playground - volunteers

We're really keen to find some volunteers to help ensure Escrick continues to have a fun and well maintained playground.
Next time you visit the playground, you'll notice that unfortunately there's two fewer pieces of equipment than there used to be.
Most of the playground dates back to 2005 and is now reaching the end of its life - so unfortunately these won't be the last pieces that have to be removed.
The playground is overseen and funded by the Escrick Playing Fields Association. This is a charity founded by parents in the village to ensure each generation of children has somewhere to play. The association raises money through events such as the Escrick 10k, sponsored events (e.g. dragon boat race) and grant applications.
We're looking for the next generation of parents to get involved and share their ideas, energy and fund raising skills to buy and install the next generation of equipment for the playground.

Parish Council meeting 10th January cancelled

The Parish Council meeting scheduled for Monday 10th January 2022 has been cancelled due to Covid.
Government legislation no longer permits remote meetings, such as via Zoom, so this is not possible as an alternative.

Escrick Parish Council Update
Bus stops: We are waiting for City of York Council to confirm installation timescales for an additional streetlight opposite the Sang Thai to improve lighting on the way to, and at, the bus stops.
Highways:
- At the time of writing, one dropped kerb has been installed. The remaining dropped kerbs and the village gateway on Skipwith Road have both been delayed due to North Yorkshire County Council having supply chain issues.
- The Parish Council has been made aware of concerns about the condition of the pavement on Wenlock Drive. These have been passed to Selby District Council (responsible for sweeping/cleaning) and North Yorkshire County Council (responsible for maintenance). In the meantime, if any public spirited residents wish to sweep the areas near their property we would be very grateful.
Councillors: We have two vacancies for Parish Councillors. Please contact the clerk or chair if you are interested in getting involved.
Get involved! We’re still looking for volunteers in several areas:
- Playground: Some of the equipment in the playground is approaching end of life. We’re looking for volunteers to join the playing fields association to develop plans for replacing the aging equipment, and pursue funding opportunities such as grant funding, donations and fund-raising.
- Escrick 10k: We’re looking for someone to chair the organising committee. This run raises £5k - £7k each year for the playground and other local causes. A full handover will be given. An established event plan is in place, and an experienced committee, including race director, is in place .

Route Closure: Solar System Way 
Tree works on the Solar System Way (National Cycle Network route 65 and Trans Pennine Trail) to be carried out around Naburn:
Closed weekdays between 08:00 - 16:30 on:
10th - 20th December
4th - 7th January*
The path will be open outside of these times.

Escrick Parish Council Update
Bus stops: The Parish Council has agreed to fund an additional streetlight opposite the Sang Thai to improve lighting on the way to, and at, the bus stops.
Highways:
- Dropped kerbs and the village gateway on Skipwith Road have both been delayed due to North Yorkshire County Council having supply chain issues.
- NYCC are no longer progressing with 20mph zones near schools due to budget pressures.
- NYCC have given notice to the Parsonage regarding the overgrown vegetation on the A19. If this is not cut back shortly, NYCC will undertake the work themselves and recover the costs.
- Residents are reminded that highways concerns, such as overgrown foliage, blocked drains or road condition can be reported directly to NYCC via their website.
Jubilee 2022: Representatives of various groups across the village have got together to discuss potential events over the long Jubilee weekend. An outline plan has been agreed, with different groups leading on different aspects of it.
Shop: The working group is continuing to develop options and work through potential issues.
Councillors: We have two vacancies for Parish Councillors. Please contact the clerk or chair if you are interested in getting involved.
